Had a great week away in Paciano, Umbria. Flew over with Nic & Dominic Thunhurst, and met up with Sean, Rach, JoJo & Hannah (for their second week over there). We shared a large villa with pool & great outdoor eating area (and with a number of mosquitos that Seanie & Helen were keeping well fed). Hot and sunny all week, and all the kids (and grown-ups too) enjoyed loads of time in the pool. Elspeth was doing well swimming without arm-bands, and Fraser discovered he could swim and jump in on his own, which was a great revelation to him. After a day-long visit to the local hospitals for Nic & Dominic (after a brush with rodent bait), from which all returned mercifully unscathed, we got down to the business of enjoying the holiday. Namely the local wine, eating out in the garden every day; plus the odd leisurely visit to a local town or village - an opportunity for the kids to let off some steam and the adults to sit in a cafe and drink coffee. We also went to the nearby "not to be missed market" - which we would have done well to have missed; but also to the lake (Lago di Trasimeno) where we rented pedalos and re-enacted "Pirates of the Carribbean" which was enjoyed by everyone.
All in all, a great week away, so thanks very much to Nic & Dominic and Sean, Rach, JoJo & Hannah for your company.
