A slightly premature celebration of Elspeth's 5th and Fraser's 3rd birthdays (due to impending new arrival!). We had a Pirates & Princesses party at the local church hall in Thornbury. 22 or so little ones arrived, duly dressed in some great outfits. Elspeth went as Cinderella (as ever - she rarely goes anywhere NOT as cinderella; and Fraser (despite some initial reluctance) finally agreed to wear his pirate bandana - his decision made mainly when he realised it meant he could run round whacking things with his foam sword!
We had a great Pirate entertainer (Captain Barnacle) - a puppet show / trasure adventure, with some slighlty risqué gags, but excellent nonetheless.
The afternoon was finished off with Elspeth & Fraser's cakes - a Pirate Ship for Fraser and a Butterfly for Elspeth, lovingly crafted by a master baker - or was it the last-minute night-before panic-baker that did it?! Still, they turned out ok, and so far to my knowledge only a couple of people have been ill!
Hopefully everyone had a good time anyway. At least two tired kids fell into bed that night anyway!
